Exterior season is in full swing! And my Mac screen is full of client homes being nipped and tucked through the use of Photoshop :) This photo recolor/restyle phase is an integral step, as it eliminates fear of the unknown. To be honest, when I glance at an exterior, I may or may not be immediately struck with the best solution for change. So it’s wonderful to be able to explore options before settling on 2 or 3 of the best contenders to share with the client.
Last week I was working on two 70’s ranch style homes. In fact, I work on this style home often! It seems particularly difficult to envision updates as this is a very style/era specific design you either love or you don’t. HOWEVER, there are so many things you can do to improve the look without spending a fortune. As I completed my photo work on one of the homes, I was really excited about the way it had already transformed. Here is the original (sorry had to crop a bit for viewing).
And here are my suggestions for update.
Painted brick, white trim, adding a portion of horizontal siding, and misc. styling elements/landscaping.
Or, natural brick, warm white trim, olive accent color, and misc. styling elements/landscaping.
I am torn 50/50, what do you think? One thing I have learned for sure- streamlining busy trim work (aka cleaning up lines) alone, takes years off your home.
