Just past a sprinkling of hip cafes, in a beloved area of our city that’s equal parts family friendly and young & chic, lives a very fun friend of mine named Mike.
A few years back, when all of the right opportunities aligned, Mike launched his own corporate event planning business, Underwood Events. Please check out his amazing photo gallery. His business has taken an incredible path to say the least, though none of us are surprised by the unleashing of this major talent.
We have been known to work together (having much fun along the way) on a wide range of creative projects including invitation design, the painting of 10 foot chile peppers (don’t ask), and most importantly- the transformation of his home’s exterior!
When the business grows, so does one’s visual standard for living right? Yes! So we collaborated last summer on a new overall look. Roof, siding, trim color, door color, lights, railings, the works… But let’s face it, this place is already super cute, so it can only get better. The street is full of gingerbread houses any designer would love to get their hands on.
We settled on a gray roof- this shift alone was going to completely transform the house. And a modernized color scheme leaning gray. Rich, dark door color to provide missing contrast. And this my friends, is what we came up with-
The trim color is Benjamin Moore muslin, the door color is one of my favorite rich black/browns, Benjamin Moore black bean soup (perfect name), and the siding is painted Benjamin Moore brandon beige.
In person, you feel as if the house has always been this way. Nothing stops your eye, no jarring transitions, just subtle little elegance factors. We LOVE the change, do you?
Cheers readers! Exteriors really excite me, such a powerful opportunity for change.
