For Thanksgiving, we went to visit my in-laws in Louisville, KY. Every time we’re there, I find myself not wanting to return to my current home- that is a problem :)
The charm, the beauty, the sophistication, the well designed neighborhoods- Louisville wows me every time. And I know, this sort of comes as a surprise…
There is one neighborhood in particular we drive through, and drive through, and drive through, until my husband says he can’t take it anymore. I am totally laughing. Dreaming…
The style is classic southern, a little Greek revival, a little plantation. I tried to put my finger on the reasons these homes are such standouts.
There are many. -Perfect symmetry, balanced proportions, grand entrances, tasteful/well coordinated color selections, no battle of the beiges, beautiful doors, attention to all detail (even the house numbers).
We walked through an open model. The inside was literally breathtaking-
Look at those ceilings!
I thought the designer choose perfect light fixtures. Scale & style. This is the type of visual experience that pushes you onward…
Paint colors throughout the neighborhood are cream, gentle tans, gray, and splashes of green (like pine needle green). All shades perfectly tempered. A punchy door here and there, often a vibrant shade of red. Just enough. Thick white trim flows throughout, maintaining the most desired level of classic.
You could imagine any design magazine shooting a story here. Oh readers… someday ;)
