Today, I’m graciously working with a client in Guanajuato, Mexico.
She sent me a kind note, asking for help selecting paint colors & decor. With Mexican and French backgrounds swirling, a love for rustic, bold color, and quite a mixture of styles, she expressed the frustration she and her husband were experiencing, trying to pin down a palette.
I nonchalantly began to browse the web for background on Guanajuato. You really need to transport in order to provide appropriate answers sometimes. In this case… you need to be REBORN :)
A city known for color- how have I never met Guanajuato before? Can I tell you honestly what these photos made me want to do (beside visit the city)?
Throw away every shade of gray and tan I’ve ever specified. Shut down business to cleanse. Then reopen in screaming technicolor.
Filled my soul in the happiest sense… Amidst the coldest, grayest, longest Midwestern winter ever. I mean ever.
So I went to work, with a renewed sense of boundaries.
This is a photo of the newly painted office (before I entered the scene). Clean & cute. Surprisingly tame right?
I incorporated this warm gray and white into the palette, but introduced some COLOR (as would only be fitting).
We discussed decor too. I love these dashandalbert.com rugs for this home! Perfect way to incorporate the wall color(s).
And a little of this… A touch of that…
Can you feel it coming together…
Pure joy- rich color and warmth from around the globe.
(thank you dashandalbert.com and Etsy shops for your decor ideas)
