My friend Mike & I have been working on a paint color plan for his new but old :), historic home. It’s a beautiful place, unique and grand, so it took us a while to settle on a scheme. In his last home we did sort of a bold # with different colors in different rooms, but this time around he wanted neutral subtlety.
We decided to paint the main living area rooms, hallway, and entrance the same SW gray, just different values from light to dark. We choose a stark white shade for moldings and ceilings, and a warm off-black shade for a few details.
Here is the “office” before and after…
And part of the dining room before and after…
We knew the paint would so change the look but I don’t think we truly realized how DRAMATIC the transformation would be. It seems the paint colors have completely shifted the style/feel/and design quality of the space. Like they’re already half decorated.
We love how the wall color is complemented by the crisp white trim and wow, painting the small portion of cabinetry off-black added such depth.
Anyway, please join us in swooning over the power of paint and the AFFORDABILITY of the world’s best home pick-me-up.
